Course Description: 

This FREE training equips mandated child abuse reporters with essential knowledge of their responsibilities and critical role in our community. Participants will learn to identify the four types of abuse—physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect—while exploring the impact of cultural biases and socioeconomic factors on families. Through interactive discussions, attendees will develop the skills necessary to effectively recognize and respond to signs of abuse, ensuring a safer environment for children. This course meets the CA state requirements for mandated reporters in compliance with the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA).

By the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to identify and practice:

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of mandated reporters.
  • Recognize and identify the 4 types of abuse and the common signs associated with each.
  • Apply the impact of implicit bias on of child abuse reporting.
  • Analyze how cultural and socioeconomic factors impact families.

About the Trainer: 

Antoinette Miranda with a BA in communications and a minor in business training and development, has over six years of experience in the social service industry. Her diverse background includes both direct and indirect services, where she has worked with children, adults, and families to provide support and guidance. She has also trained social service workers, equipping them with the skills needed to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Passionate about fostering positive change, she leverages her communication skills to advocate for those in need and promote collaborative solutions.

This course is approved for  2.5 continuing education hours for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs as required by the California B.B.S. under CEPA Provider #129412, and for RADT, CADC, and LAADC by CCAPP-EI CADAAC Provider # 7213401223.

Community Solutions is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs. Community Solutions maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
